Welcome by our guide at the estimated time at the port or airport of Tangier and started our journey to Chefchaouen or Chaouen as many call it, located in the only intercontinental nature reserve declared a natural biosphere reserve. It is a village perched in the mountains painted white and blue, populated by kind and friendly people, and offers to the visitors beautiful urban landscapes, precious samples of local crafts, and a peace and serenity that today is hard to find . Dinner and accommodation in Riad.
Leave the rich world of Chefchaouen and take the route towards Fez, the first imperial city that is proud to host one of the oldest universities in the world. Along the way we visit the well preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis. We may also see an overview of Moulay Idriss, the holy city for lunch and in the afternoon arrive at Fez to enjoy the sunset while visiting the walls and doors in the middle or just take a welcome tea in the terrace of the Riad. Dinner and overnight in Riad.
After a delicious breakfast at the Riad, we begin our tour of the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its labyrinthine alleys structured by guilds of potters, dyers, … etc., The bustle of people will transport you back centuries. You will notice that it is a medieval city and that the time has stopped the clock ” the Magana Bounania ” … 1200 years after its construction. It’s wonderful! Not far from Fez we cross Ifrane, residential center, before arriving in the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. Dinner and accommodation in Midelt.
It’s time for Atlas. We expect a dramatic change in scenery, the road crosses the High Atlas and quickly move into the Deep South. The land becomes arid, with spectacular geological formations and deep valleys, as the Ziz Valley. Begin to see mud architecture, palm trees, some distant kasbahs … We are at the gates of the desert. Arriving at the impressive dunes of Merzouga ”Desert Dunes of fine sand” where we change the car for other animal traction ”Camels” to enter the heart of the dunes and enjoy an unforgettable sunset. Arrive with the camels to the camp where we stay in Nomad Tents ”made of camel’s hair” as used by desert nomads. Dinner and night in the heart of the desert under a spectacular canopy of stars.
After a delicious breakfast, we have to say goodbye to the desert and leave for Rissani, visit its market (if we’re lucky and if one of the market days: Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday), follow the road to Erfoud where you will be able to visit the fossilized marble factory before continuing on to the palm of Touroug and Tinjdad. 1 Hour later we reach one of the strongest points of the High Atlas: The Todra Gorges. The bed of the river Todra has formed a vertical wall of huge proportions and great beauty, is a paradise for climbers and a unique place. Lunch at the site and a half hour walk to see and enjoy in detail the Gorges. In the afternoon we will continue towards the Dades valley, also known as the Valley of figs. Through Boumalne Dades we stop at the ” monkey paws. ” Dinner and overnight at Dades Gorges.
After breakfast, we will enjoy one of the best views of the Dades Valley. After several stops to enjoy the route of the Thousand Kasbah, the Valley of Roses and the great palm grove of Skoura, we get to Ouarzazate and visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, former residence of Glaoui or Pasha of Marrakech, and Film Studies and Museum Cine if interested. Lunch in the village and in the afternoon will depart back to Marrakech crossing the mountain pass of Tizi Ntichka with photo stops.
